Why Photography Workshops and Courses in Shropshire?

Here's why Shropshire is so good for photography courses

So why do I run my photography workshops and courses in Shropshire? Well, the short answer is that I now live here and that Shropshire is among the most beautiful and photogenic places in England. Shropshire really is at the very heart of old England.

The main picture above was taken from my own back garden on a summer’s day. There are no cities in this largely rural county, just a whole lot of lovely historic towns, villages and glorious English countryside. That includes the spectacular Shropshire Hills, so favoured by walkers, climbers, nature lovers and landscape photographers. The Long Mynd is just a few short miles away.

 

Shrewsbury has changed little - it is still a great place for photographers

...and then there is Ludlow

The ancient town of Ludlow attracts visitors from all over the world. They come to see the quintessential English country market town. Its ancient streets are lined with some of the most historic and photogenic buildings in England.  Ludlow has nearly 500 listed buildings, including some of the finest examples of medieval and Tudor-style half-timbered buildings to be found anywhere. The town was described by poet Sir John Betjeman as “probably the loveliest town in England”

Several photography workshops are on the cards for Ludlow. We can photograph the town as an option when you come on a 121 photography course.

Landscape photographers have been coming to the splendid Shropshire Hills and the magnificent Long Mynd since photography began.

The landscape in Shropshire is as varied as it is spectacular. When the light slants across the moors and valleys of this ancient landscape, it would be impossible not to get excited about taking pictures.
